Kid Mohair Merino Boucle - Aran / Worsted Weight Hand Dyed Yarn

This boucle is all about texture. Made from a beautiful blend of kid mohair and merino wool, it has an incredibly tactile surface with beautiful curl definition and soft loops running along the strand. The kid mohair brings softness, warmth and a delicate halo, while the merino gives the yarn body and a little extra structure.

The boucle construction creates plenty of volume without making the yarn feel dense or heavy. At 200m per 100g, it knits into a substantial, wonderfully textured fabric while retaining the lightness and airiness you expect from mohair. The curls catch the light and colour beautifully, giving even the simplest fabric plenty of depth.

This is a yarn that doesn't need complicated stitch patterns to make an impact. The distinctive curls remain visible in the finished fabric, creating a soft, slightly wild and organic surface rather than the uniform fluff of a conventional brushed mohair. It is perfect for cosy sweaters, cardigans, accessories and statement pieces where you want the yarn itself to be the main feature.

How it knits up
Kid Mohair Merino Boucle creates a warm, airy fabric with lots of texture and a soft halo. The boucle loops and beautiful curl definition give simple stocking stitch plenty of character, while the airy construction keeps the finished fabric from feeling overly heavy. Around 4.0–5.0 mm needles will produce a more substantial, defined fabric, while 5.0–6.0 mm will allow the curls to open up and create a softer, looser and more relaxed result. It can also be held together with a smooth yarn for additional structure and an interesting contrast between the boucle texture and the supporting strand.

I use acid dyes that result in vibrant permanent colours. I recommend to handwash a ready item in cool water with as little movement as possible for best results. Some colours might bleed at first wash.
