This boucle is one of those yarns that surprises you the moment you touch it. Spun from superfine alpaca with just a hint of polyamide for structure, it has that light, cloud-soft feel alpaca is known for, with the little loops adding texture and depth without any fuss.

It has that soft, full presence on the needles while still feeling light and airy to wear, giving you the best of both worlds: lace yardage with DK-like texture and warmth.

Despite the boucle twist, it handles beautifully, gentle on the hands, smooth across the needles, and wonderfully receptive to colour. The finished fabric blooms into something airy and warm, perfect for delicate shawls, light sweaters, and cosy layering pieces.

How it knits up
Alpaca Boucle creates a soft, gently textured fabric with a natural halo and a surprising amount of warmth for its weight. It works well held single for an open, lace-like look, or doubled with itself or another yarn (like a fine merino or mohair) for added structure. For a single strand, most knitters find 3.0–3.5 mm needles give a light, drapey fabric; held double, 4.0–4.5 mm brings out the plush, velvety side of the boucle. The loops disappear into the fabric as you knit, leaving behind a subtle, tactile surface rather than a bulky one.

I would be happy to wind your skeins into cakes at no cost, please leave a message at checkout if you'd like that. Otherwise your yarn will be shipped in skeins.

I use acid dyes that result in vibrant permanent colours. I recommend to handwash a ready item in cool water with as little movement as possible for best results. Some colours might bleed at first wash.
