This hand dyed yarn is a ready-spun blend of non-superwash merino and super kid mohair, combining softness with a generous, airy halo. The merino gives body and comfort, while the mohair adds lightness and glow, creating a fabric that feels warm without weight and soft enough for next-to-skin wear.

Although the yardage sits in fingering territory, the mohair halo adds volume and loft, allowing it to knit up more like a DK on needles up to 4mm. The fabric feels fuller than a standard 4 ply, with gentle drape and that characteristic haze that softens stitches and edges. It’s ideal for airy sweaters, cardigans and shawls where you want warmth without heaviness.

It also works beautifully as a substitute for patterns that call for fingering weight yarn held together with mohair. Because the blend is already combined, you get the same fluffy texture and depth with less bulk on the needles and no need to manage two strands.

It takes dye beautifully. Muted shades look smoky and layered, while brighter colours gain a luminous depth as the halo diffuses the tone. Variegated and speckled colourways soften and blur slightly, giving a cohesive, almost watercolour effect in the finished fabric.
